The wait is over, folks. HTC took to the stage in New York City as well as London to introduce its highly anticipated HTC One Android flagship smartphone to enthusiastic crowds of reporters. So far, the general buzz surrounding the phone is largely positive since HTC seemed to reach or exceed expectations on nearly all accounts.
In terms of hardware, the shining aspects of the HTC One includes its speedy processor, display, and camera. To begin, it offers a 4.7 inch 1080p HD display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB (0r 64GB) of on board storage, and an ultra pixel rear facing camera. The rear facing camera has been optimized for performance through HTC Zoe, which is a software component changes the way we view photos in the gallery.
In terms of software, the One will launch with Android 4.1.2 with a new version of HTC Sense 5.0. Other software components include HTC BlinkFeed, which organizes information directly on the home screen to present important information in a quick and efficient manner.
HTC clearly thought about the One in terms of marketing strategy, design, style, and power before bringing it to the market. Moreover, it will launch sometime in Q2 in the United States on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, as was previously depicted in a rumor. Notably missing is Verizon Wireless, which stems from the fact that Verizon currently sells the high-end DROID DNA. More generally, HTC is pursuing an aggressive global campaign in which over 185 carriers and stores will sell the device through 80 different regions and countries.
The last piece of missing information is, unfortunately, pricing. I imagine each individual carrier will announce specific price points as we approach the March launch.
