HTC finally announced the successor to HTC One and it’s an impressive phone. Of all the rumours and speculations we’ve been hearing for months, several of them are actually legit. The HTC One M8 comes with a 90 percent aluminum unibody, the predecessor had 70 percent. The bump gives the phone a much more sophisticated look. Moving on, the HTC One M8 comes with a full HD 5 inch screen, as for the bezels, they’ve been reduced to a noticeable amount. HTC One M8 is also the first phone from HTC to get on screen buttons, replacing the capacitive touch buttons.
Then there’s a dual camera set up at the back, the cameras carries the same Ultrapixel technology and they offer 4 mega pixels. As for the front camera, HTC gave a huge upgrade to it and now features a 5 mega pixel, wide lens camera. HTC also brought back the iconic BoomSound speakers that debuted with the original HTC One, according to HTC, these speakers will produce 25 percent louder sound than the ones featured in the predecessor. Moving on to the other technicalities, the international variant of HTC One M8 comes with a quad core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3 gigahertz, as for the other variant that will go on sale in US, Middle East, Europe and Africa, the phone will feature a quad core Krait 400 with each core clocked respectively at 2.5 gigahertz. There will be 2 gigs of RAM, the phone will come in 16 and 32 gigs variant, thankfully, this time HTC also included micro SD card slot that allows the expansion upto 128 gigs.
The One M8 will run Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box that will be featured with HTC’s update Sense 6.0 skin, HTC decided to do something good and introduced the launcher on the Google Play Store, this decision will let the company provide updates without having to releasing small software updates via OTA. The battery on HTC One M8 is also upgraded, it went from 2,300 mAh to 2,600 mAh.
HTC One M8 will be available in Amber Gold, Gunmetal Grey and Glacial Silver. HTC One M8 will also come as a Google Play Edition. The One M8 will be available in selected markets from today.
