HTC is expected to launch a phablet version of the One (M8) later this year, allegedly dubbed the M8 Prime, and a new report from @evleaks reveals a few new features that could give the device an edge over its competition. The HTC One (M8) Prime will apparently offer a waterproof design featuring a aluminum-silicon composite.
.@urbanstrata P.S. Coolest feature of M8 Prime? It's made out of an exotic material, a composite of aluminum and liquid silicone.
A waterproof design would bring the M8 Prime up to par with the latest flagship phones from Samsung and Sony, while its alleged aluminum-silicon build could make for a more durable smartphone without sacrificing metal for plastic. On the specs front, @evleaks backs up previous rumors that point to a Snapdragon 805 processor, a 5.5-inch 2K display and 3GB of RAM.
With both Samsung and HTC expected to announce Prime versions of current flagship phones, early adopters of the One (M8) and Galaxy S5 may be a bit frustrated by the enhancements . The Galaxy S5 Prime will apparently offer a similar design with upgraded specs and a metallic rear casing, though the HTC One (M8) Prime should be more of a successor to the One Max than a “prime” version of an existing handset.
Recent rumors suggest the M8 Prime could launch this September, so it will likely be at least a few more months before HTC makes an official announcement.
