After a myriad of rumors suggesting all the HTC One M9 leaks we’ve seen thus far have been fakes in an attempt to hide the final product today a new photo has emerged showing what could be the true and final design of HTC’s next flagship phone, or two.
The brand new HTC One M9 has been surfacing more and more over the past few weeks, and now it’s no secret that the company plans to announce its new smartphone on March 1st at the annual Mobile World Congress show. However, it appears that all of the leaked information and photos from last week were fakes, but the true identity and look of the phone may have been revealed this morning.
The semi-retired and famed leakster @evleaks took a moment or two this morning to shed light on the situation, and has potentially revealed the all-new HTC One M9 well ahead of HTC’s planned March 1st launch date. Posting to Twitter that old habits die hard, sharing a few of his older leaks of the HTC One line, and at the end a brand new photo revealing a completely redesigned and stunning looking HTC One M9, as well as its bigger brother.
Until today all the leaks have been about the HTC One M9, codenamed Hima, but we’ve also heard a few small reports that a larger 5.5-inch HTC One M9 Max (or Plus) is also coming in the fall to take on the iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy Note 4, and the Galaxy Note 5 when it arrives later this year. HTC has big plans for 2015, and they may have just been revealed.
For starers we’ll talk about the first device pictured (on the left) which we’re assuming is the all-new HTC One M9 for 2015. It doesn’t look anything like the past two models, and has an edge-to-edge glass display, nearly no bezels, and the dual front facing boomsound speakers have been moved to the absolute top and bottom edge. Making the device looks extremely clean, sharp, and removing the large bezels owners have complained about over the past two years.
Rumor has it the HTC One M9 will retain the 5-inch screen and it will have either a 1080p resolution, or increase to a 2560 x 1440 quad-hd display like most of the competition. The front camera is now a 4 Ultrapixel lens like what was on the rear on previous models, and the back will now be highlighted with a 20.7 megapixel camera. That isn’t shown here, but has been seen in other leaks. The other details are an 8-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a micro-SD slot for extra storage, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on board. Check out the brand new photo below. This could be our first look at the real HTC One M9.
HTC One M9 (left) vs HTC One Max/Plus (right)
If this photo is indeed the real deal, the HTC One M9 may be one of the best looking and best overall smartphones of 2015. It surely has potential, and we’re liking what we see. However, you may have noticed that much bigger device, and that’s next on our list of things to talk about.
Ignoring the rounded aluminum edges that make these phones look like an iPhone, the device to the right is the rumored HTC One Max, HTC One M9 Plus, or whatever name HTC decides on. In 2013 they had an HTC One Max, but scrapped it in 2014. It could make a triumphant return in 2015 with some major improvements, a dedicated home button similar to Samsung’s devices, and most likely a fingerprint scanner.
The device on the right is expected to be a device we see later this year, but could also make a surprise appearance on March 1st, we’ll have to wait and see. If rumors are correct, it will have a large 5.5-inch (or bigger) 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display, similar internals to the device above, the same excellent front and rear cameras, and maybe even a stylus. Meaning it will be an extremely powerful top-tier device aimed at the Note series, the LG G4, and anything released later this year by Apple.
We’re not sure what to make of this photo, but given @evleaks extremely accurate past, this very well could be our first real look at two brand new smartphones coming this year from HTC. Thoughts?
