At the beginning of March, HTC officially unveiled the One M9, the flagship successor to last year’s One M8. Unfortunately, HTC didn’t immediately launch the device after unveiling it just as they did last year, and news for the U.S. market was pretty limited. The carriers confirmed they’d be carrying it, but they didn’t reveal any actual launch plans.
So, for those in the U.S. and not in Taiwan — where the One M9 is launching today — any news about the One M9 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to HTC America’s President Jason Mackenzie, we have a date to circle on the calendar. Not for a launch, probably, but for news that appears to be focused on the newest flagship. He tweeted out that HTC has a “BIG announcement” coming up on Wednesday, March 18, and then also included the hashtag “#HTCOneM9.”
The safety bet is that the news has something to do with the One M9, and, considering the source of the tweet, it would be easy to assume that the news has something to do with the U.S. market. Of course, he could just be teasing something in general for the One M9, considering he’s an executive for the company behind the handset. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
