A recent report suggested that the HTC One M8 Prime had been shelved by the manufacturer. However, it seems like the company is merely postponing launch plans until next year if Evleaks is to be believed. It is said that the Taiwanese manufacturer will look to launch the One M9 Prime and the standard One M9 by the first quarter of 2015.
Interestingly, it is said that the One M9 Prime will launch first while the One M9 will follow suit later. It’s unheard of for companies to launch a premium version of a device before the regular model breaks cover first, which can lead to plenty of confusion in the market. Keeping that in consideration, take this report with a pinch of salt for the time being.
It is more than likely that HTC will launch both devices next year, possibly with a QHD display as rumors have indicated. However, we fear it might be a little too late for the company given that the likes of LG and even Samsung to some extent already have QHD smartphones in the pipeline. Perhaps we’ll see a phablet from HTC later this year, but nothing noteworthy until 2015 if this report is anything to go by.
