We know it’s coming. We’ve been seeing it in live photos, or renders. It’s the One Max – HTC’s first attempt at making a phablet. Based on the HTC One (which is quite successful on its own), the One Max supposedly sports a 5.9 inch Full HD display, offering all the latest and greatest tech HTC has at the moment.
While the Taiwanese company did nothing to confirm the existence of the One Max, we now have a serious clue on when the phablet may be launched.
According to Focus Taiwan, HTC Chief Marketing Office Ben Ho said that the company would release “a variant of its flagship One series in the fourth quarter” of the year. Since the One Mini is already out, that variant can only be the One Max.

Ben Ho is also quoted as saying: “we had launched too many products in the past, so we have become more cautious this year.” Apparently, the One Max will be the sole new flagship device HTC is going to introduce this year. There will also be two or three mid-range Desire smartphones (we’re not sure if the new Desire 500 is included here).
Reportedly, the HTC exec shared these thoughts yesterday, at the media event announcing a new marketing campaign – called Change and featuring Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr. The campaign is seemingly worth $1 billion, and HTC certainly hopes it will allow it to get out of the murky waters of hardly profitable business.
