After having been announced last week, the HTC One Mini 2 is now up for pre-order in the UK. However, despite its midrange specs, it’s anything but affordable. In fact, its pre-order price is only about £16 lower than what the One M8 goes for. That’s insane, given the huge difference in hardware between the two, so we’re hoping that things will change once it actually gets released.
Amazon is the retailer that is currently offering the One Mini 2 for pre-order, and it’s asking for £498.85 for the privilege. On the same website, the HTC One M8 starts at £515 at the moment, so unless you absolutely must have the metal design in a smaller package there’s absolutely no reason for you to go for a One Mini 2.
The One Mini 2 isn’t a smaller version of the One M8, it’s an entirely different device (though it does look similar). It comes with decent specs, yes, but not top of the line. And when you’re hovering around the £500 price point, you should really be a high-end smartphone, and nothing else.
The HTC One Mini 2 will become available in the UK on June 30, according to Amazon’s listing, so you have plenty of time to make up your mind on whether it’s really worth all that dough.
