Excited for the HTC One successor? This rumor might whet your appetite even more. A 3D-printed mockup of the HTC One successor, nicknamed the HTC One 2, has been spotted circulating online.

Allegedly, the 3D printed mockup was created using a set of specifications obtained from an insider as basis.
The mockup is made of resin, and while it does not look like a real smartphone yet, it does give us a possible preview of the upcoming device. But whether the mockup is truly of the next-generation HTC One or an entirely new model from HTC remains to be seen; as with all these leaks, it is always advisable to take this with a grain of salt.
That said, it may not be too long until we know for sure whether this is the HTC One successor. A rumor suggests that the device could be unveiled as early as Mobile World Congress 2014, which is happening on February 24th to 27th. It may hit the market around March.
As for its specifications, the next-generation HTC One is believed to have a 5-inch display, which is slightly larger than the 4.7-inch display of the original HTC One. The same display is said to have a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, and a pixel density that matches the Samsung Galaxy S4. Under the hood, the device will boast of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 or 805 SoC, the latter enabling the device to support videos at 4K resolution. 16GB of memory and a microSD card slot are likewise onboard, along with Android 4.4 KitKat. From the mockup, there also appears to be two front-facing speakers, and either a microphone or a double flash near the camera lens. Supposedly, the device will feature a 4 UltraPixel rear-facing camera plus a 2.1 megapixel front-facing snapper.
The HTC One successor is expected to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the LGT G3 in the coming year, among other flagship models.
