A few days ago, we came across the leaked specs of the HTC M8 or the HTC One 2 courtesy of Evleaks. But today we have confirmation of the name coming through via Phone Arena which claims the HTC One successor will be simply known as the HTC One+. What’s more, the smartphone is rumored to feature the same 4MP Ultrapixel camera that we saw on the HTC One last year. This could prove to be disastrous for HTC as the camera was one area where HTC left plenty of room for improvement with the One.
Phone Arena claims that HTC’s hesitance to go with a revamped camera could be due to its contractual obligation with the manufacturer of the camera unit, ST Microelectronics. So it seems like HTC’s 2014 flagship will fail to impress, especially given the expectations from the likes of Samsung, Sony and LG later this year. Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi, Oppo, ZTE, Meizu and Huawei are also planning killer flagships for 2014, so we’re afraid HTC is left in the corner.
