Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard not once but twice that HTC is hard at work on a One X+ for T-Mobile USA. It will be a slightly upgraded version of the One X, featuring a quad-core 1.7 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor (so 200 MHz more than its predecessor).
However, it now seems that this device may also be headed to the UK, under the codename Endeavour C2. Stuff heard this from a supposedly ‘trusty’ source, who also mentioned a quad-core 1.7 GHz CPU. Aside from that, the phone’s hardware seems to be identical to the One X, save for an improved battery. That would definitely be a good thing, since the One X (pictured below) isn’t breaking any battery life records, that’s for sure.
There’s no reason for HTC not to call this the One X+ in all the markets it will launch it. After all, the One X, One S, and One V are all called that regardless of where they’re sold.
Accessories made for the One X should fit the new device, it’s safe to assume that it will look the same too. That said, this One X+ that’s headed to the UK will apparently come in a new, as-yet secret color, and will come bundled with UrBeats headphones.
New software will arrive on the One X+ too. ClearVoice tech will ensure that call quality is much improved, and HTC Watch 2 will be there to serve all your video-on-demand needs.
The HTC One X+ (Endeavour C2) could be in stores in the UK on or before October 1. If this pans out, it means that T-Mobile USA will still be the first to launch the One X+, as its release was last pegged for September. In the UK, you’ll need to shell out about £5 more per month to get the One X+ on contract than what you have to pay for the One X.
This is all a rumor at this point, but since it’s pretty clear that HTC is working on an enhanced One X, we don’t see any reason for the Taiwanese company to launch that just in the US and just on one carrier. We’ll keep you posted.
