A mysterious new device called the HTC One X9 popped up over the weekend, along with a list of high-end specs that could go with it. Unfortunately, it turns out the X9 won’t be the power-house we were hoping for, at least according to a pair of reliable Twitter tipsters.
@LlabTooFeR, who seems to have an inside line to HTC, was quick to chime in with a rebuttal. He claims that the One X9 will launch early next year with less powerful hardware than the One A9. A few months later we’ll get our true flagship with the HTC One M10.
HTC E56 (One X9) targeted Q1 2016
Device will be positioned lower than HTC One A9
It will be released ~2-3 months before flagship "M10"
Semi-retired gadget leaker Evan Blass also chimed in with his own list of specs for the One X9. The device will apparently sport a MediaTek processor, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel camera (4 Ultrapixel in front), a 3000mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
.@stagueve All wrong. E56 sports a Mediatek SoC & 5.5" FHD display. Memory is just 2GB/16GB, camera 13MP/4UP (OIS), w/ a 3000mAh battery.
Based on this new information, it sounds like the One X9, or whatever HTC calls it, will be more of a mid-range device. It could end up as part of the Desire or Butterfly series. The one thing everyone seems to agree on is that this new phone is launching early next year, so we probably won’t have to wait much longer to find out the truth.
