Rumors surrounding the HTC One X9 have taken us on something of a rollercoaster ride. Initial speculation pointed to an uncharacteristically powerful device for HTC, but the latest rumors have left us wondering if there was any truth at all in those first reports. Here is all you need to know about the HTC One X9 price, release date, specs and rumors.
Let’s start with the major sticking point, the HTC One X9 specs. Nowhereelse.fr indicated that the HTC One X9 could arrive with a Snapdragon 820 processor, 5-inch QHD display, 23 MP camera, 3,500 mAh battery, 4 GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage options. Since then, various reliable Twitter leakers have suggested that these claims are incorrect, including Evan Blass (@evleaks):
.@stagueve All wrong. E56 sports a Mediatek SoC & 5.5" FHD display. Memory is just 2GB/16GB, camera 13MP/4UP (OIS), w/ a 3000mAh battery.
The speculation from @evleaks appears to be most accurate at this point in time.
HTC One X9 design
We have caught a glimpse of the potential One X9 design in a leaked promo image. The One X9 is expected to launch at a lower price than that of the HTC One A9, HTC's most recent handset, so perhaps it will have a plastic body with metal accents, rather than a more expensive metal unibody.
HTC One X9 release date
Leaker/developer LlabTooFeR took to Twitter to suggest that the One X9 would be less powerful than the A9, and that it would be released two or three months before the HTC One M10.
HTC's One M series release dates have been as follow: the One M7 in February 2013; the M8 in March 2014; and the M9 in April 2015. This is roughly a 13-month release cycle, which would suggest the One M10 is due in May 2015. The One X9 could therefore land around February 2016.
HTC One X9 price
The HTC One A9 entered the market with a retail price of US$499.99. If the One X9 is less powerful than the A9, as has been suggested, then its price should be lower too.
