Ever since Windows Phone 7.8 was spotted running on phones in the wild, Windows Phone development has been more active than it has been for quite some time. The reason? Porting Windows Phone 7.8 to as many phones a possible, of course. Already on the short list is the HTC HD7 and the immortal HTC HD2. The HTC Radar recently got its own Windows 7.8 port, joining its Windows siblings.
XDA Forum Member sianto1997 has released the port for the HTC Radar. It is surprisingly stable, as users haven’t reported any overwhelming problems yet. The features include:
-Nokia Counters, Nokia Drive, Nokia Music Camera extras (NOKIA MARKETPLACE)
-USB Video out
-DFT Bluetooth transfer
-Windows Phone 8 startscreen
-WP7 Root Tools
Of course, it is a port—and an early one—so there are a few things not working properly. These include:
Picturetile: if you make it small you can’t make it full big again
xbox and music and video don’t change accent (make tap the little icon a few times (everytime))
Marketplace icon sometimes has windows logo, sometimes not
if you pin a site and make it really small its grey, and you can only pin one thing to start
These problems seem very minor, so there’s no reason why Radar owners can’t put this ROM on their phones and leave it there until the next iteration. Included is also a link to some compatible language packs for those who need something other than English. To learn more, check out the original thread.
