Released in the US by AT&T not long ago, the HTC Status is ready to hit the Canadian market, too. As previously mentioned, Telus will be the first (and maybe the only – we don’t know) Canadian carrier to sell the Status. And it looks like it will do it starting this Friday (July 29).
Telus will offer the Status for $29.99 with a new 3-yr contract agreement, or $249.99 outright. Customers should also be able to choose 1-yr and 2-yr contract agreements, and in these cases the Status will cost $199.99 and $149.99, respectively.
Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the HTC Status features a 2.6 inch HVGA touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, a dedicated Facebook key, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, and an 800MHz processor.
Telus already has a Facebook-friendly smartphone: the INQ Cloud Touch. However, this runs Android 2.2 Froyo, and doesn’t have a hardware keyboard (let alone a dedicated Facebook button).
