The first image of HTC's upcoming Wildfire C (or Golf) has surfaced online
A press shot for the upcoming HTC Golf, AKA Wildfire C, has shown up online and the device bears a striking resemblance to the One X, a fact that is likely to do its reputation no harm at all.
Beneath the improved aesthetics you'll reportedly find an 800MHz CPU, 512MB RAM and 4GB on on-board storage as well as a 3.5-inch display and Android 4.0, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich.
Other features rumored to be included are a 5 megapixel primary camera, secondary VGA snapper, Micro SD slot and, we were pleased to note, Beats Audio enhancement, which should appeal to the musically minded.
HTC has enjoyed quite a bit of success with its entry-level devices in the past, with the Wildfire and Wildfire S both receiving positive reviews, but the game has changed in 2012. The Taiwanese company is likely to face stiff competition from the likes of ZTE and Huawei, two companies that are looking to make a real impact in the affordable smartphone market.
It's doubtful that the Wildfire C will hold its own against an onslaught from cheap, attractive dual-core devices, so HTC had better price this bad boy competitively, because it could be in for a tough year.
