Huawei’s upcoming flagship, the Ascend Mate 7 has made an appearance on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, giving us a look at the metal exterior. Although the display is not completely on, we can ascertain from this image that the smartphone will feature slim side bezels, much to our joy.
Moreover, the date shown on the phone is from over two months ago, so it might not be the most recent picture of the device. The design is quite similar to the HTC One Max, especially on the back where a fingerprint scanner is placed right under the camera sensor.
The Ascend Mate 7 is expected to be packing a 6 inch 1080p resolution sapphire glass display, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, the homegrown octa core Kirin SoC and the latest version of Android. While the Ascend Mate 7 will probably not take our eyes off the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 next week, it could have a massive impact in its home region of China. It will be interesting to see if the fingerprint scanner on the Ascend Mate 7 will be capable of anything special apart from authenticating lock screen unlocks.
