Huawei impressed us earlier this year with the glass-covered Ascend P7. Now the company is reportedly gearing up to release a follow-up Ascend P8 with a new design and improved hardware, according to a report from Chinese tech blog MyDrivers.
The Huawei Ascend P8 apparently features a metal design, though the back panel and buttons are ceramic. It will also reportedly offer a larger 5.2-inch 1080p display that curves slightly around the edges, similar to Apple’s iPhone 6. Under the hood , the device allegedly packs a 16nm eight-core processor manufactured by TSMC.
Rumor has it the Ascend P8 could be unveiled as soon as January 2015 at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The device is expected to cost 2,999 yuan (roughly $490), though it’s unclear if the phone will be available here in the U.S.
