Huawei have never been one for loud announcements and the Ascend W2 seems to be almost hidden amongst the tech gadgets at Mobile Asia Expo, with a small booth showing off the budget phone.
The spec sheet for the Ascend W2 is nothing to get overly excited about, it comes with a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 screen, a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with microSD card expansion and a 1,700mAh battery, which can also be removed for a larger option.
Huawei has decided to spouse up the line with some colours, very similar to the Lumia palette. They have also backlit the three soft keys to whatever colour the user decides to use for their theme.
It seems this is a going to China first and may spread out into Europe later this year, although with the budget end design it may be destine for Latin America and Asia only. We have no price points yet, but we expect it to be a cheaper option for Windows Phone 8.
