The Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is the company’s latest phablet which was launched a few months ago. It was said that the handset will eventually make its way to the U.S. but we didn’t quite know when. And today, Huawei has announced the arrival of the smartphone in the region along with a dedicated online store gethuawei.com to purchase the smartphone.
Users are only able to purchase the Ascend Mate 2 LTE at the moment, but more handsets will be hopefully added soon. Customers also have a wide range of accessories to choose from within the store.
The Ascend Mate 2 is pretty large with its 6.1 inch display, but the best part is the price tag of $299.99 that the company has set. Sure, the smartphone isn’t exactly a high end offering, but it’s still a pretty aggressive pricing for a phablet of this caliber.
The handset features a 720p resolution display, a 1.6 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, 4G LTE connectivity, a 13-megapixel camera accompanied by a 5-megapixel front facing sensor. To accommodate for the large size, the smartphone also comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and a 3,900 mAh battery which is capable of charging other devices with the help of an additional accessory available from the online store.
