Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is one of Huawei’s best devices in 2014, if not the best. The handset resembles HTC’s One Max phablet due to its general shape and the fingerprint scanner on the back, but this handset is a completely different beast. First and foremost, its fingerprint scanner works great and is touch-to-activate type, and of course there’s not need to explain how different Huawei’s Emotion UI Android skin is compared to One Max’s Sense UI. Both of these handsets have their positive and negative sides though, of course. Huawei has been able to sell quite a few Ascend Mate 7 handsets and the company usually sells them out quickly, despite the rather steep price tag. As a side note, this Chinese smartphone manufacturer will release a special edition Ascend Mate 7 called “Monarch” on December 12th.
That being said, Huawei released two rather interesting and quite frankly fun commercials for their Ascend Mate 7 handset. These two commercials are showing off Huawei’s fingerprint scanner features, the first one is aimed at Samsung’s Galaxy S5 and the phone’s clumsy swipe-to-activate fingerprint scanner, while the second one aims Apple’s iPhone 6 and phone’s fingerprint scanner disadvantage compared to the Ascend Mate 7. I’m not going to reveal more than that considering that would spoil the fun completely, but take my word for it and go watch these two commercials, they’re short and fun, just the way they should be.
Huawei Ascend Mate 7 features a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage or 3GB and 32GB of internal storage, depending on the version you decide to purchase. This phablet is powered by Huawei’s very own HiSilicion Kirin 925 octa-core processor (quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7) which ships with a Mali-T628 GPU for graphics processing. 13-megapixel camera is located at the back of this device while you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper on the front side of it. 4100mAh non-removable battery comes with this device and Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top of it. Ascend Mate 7 measures 157 x 81 x 7.9mm while it weighs 185 grams and it also has the fingerprint scanner on the back which I’ve already mentioned.
