I was one of the many that placed a pre-order for the Nexus 7 tablet on the day it was announced. More specifically, I pre-ordered the 16GB Nexus 7. And once available, I will also order the official case. Anyway, I have seen a few others share their reasoning as to why they were ready to part with some money without even touching the device and I thought, why not share my reasoning.
My decision breaks down into two parts — Jelly Bean and more money in my pocket each month. Lets begin with Jelly Bean as this is the simpler and probably more common of the two. You see, this is the way the I will be able to get and play around with Jelly Bean without having to wait several months. Nothing really surprising here, I am a mobile geek and I love to play with new devices and new operating systems and this is a good chance to do both.
The second reason, I have long kept two active smartphone lines on my Verizon account. Because well, like I mentioned — I like to play with various systems. For me, iOS fits my usage the best. Or maybe I have just adapted it to work the best for me. That is a story for another day. But while I really like iOS and use an iPhone and iPad — I really like Android and I also really like 7-inch tablets. In short, the Nexus 7 fits both bills — Android and 7-inches. Plus, the real reason here, I can now cancel that second line and save a decent amount of money each month as a result.
And adding in another point, it seems fairly likely that the Nexus 7 will get updated in the future, to whatever will be coming after Jelly Bean. Anyway, I have placed my pre-order and am waiting delivery. What that means for you, I will be able to report back with some hands-on real-world style usage in the future and that may help you make a decision to purchase. Or not purchase.
