The iPhone and iPod touch have some outstanding games available in the App Store, but they don’t have outstanding controls. A lot of great games simply aren’t touch-screen friendly, but the good folks at ThinkGeek—makers of the iCade iPad gaming cabinet—are looking to address that problem with the newly released iCade Mobile for iPhone and iPod touch.
Place your iPhone or iPod touch inside the iCade Mobile, connect the devices via Bluetooth, and you’ve now got eight action buttons and an honest to goodness d-pad to control your games. Well…some of your games. Developers have to build support for iCade into their app, but the list is constantly growing and either includes or will include NAMCO Arcade, Akane the Kunoichi, Super Lemonade Factory, Temple Run and plenty more (search for “iCade” in the App Store).
Additional features include:
Rotating cradle allows for landscape and portrait viewing
Connects using wireless Bluetooth technology (set up once and you’re good to go!)
True control with eight action buttons and two-axis directional pad
