We all love iMessages. It’s simple, perfect and powerful enough to save us a lot of bucks that’d otherwise go for message packs.
But it looks like everything’s going to change again. While iPhones will still have iMessages, there’s one more app coming – according to some sources in the hacking community. The iChat on iPhone.
iChat for iPhone is expected (or rumored) to come on iOS in the next few updates. The clue for this was tweeted by a popular jailbreak hacker in one of his tweets. With the iChat on iOS, it almost looks like too many IMs on the iOS, doesn’t it?
Well, it depends on what features it brings to the iOS.
Could this mean iMessages is being clubbed with iChat – with all the features combined?
That’s something worth thinking about – and we think that if Apple has to bring iChat to iOS – or take iMessages to Mac OS X – clubbing them would be a great option. Imagine how good it would be to send messages to your friend via your Mac OS X instead of having to do that via iPhone?
Or communicating with a friend on Mac through your iPhone via iMessages/iChat client?
While it all sounds good, it surely doesn’t confirm anything for now. All that we’ve been shown is random piece of code – which points to a possible client that can send messages, check to see if they got delivered etc.
Why iChat? There Are Apps Already
There are countless apps on the App Store for pretty much everything that’s been imagined here. So why would one want an iChat on iPhone?
Having a native client on the iPhone makes it unnecessary to download Apps from App store – and makes the iPhone even feature-rich. The iChat for iPhone – if it comes out – would ideally have the advantage of being able to communicate with an OS X device like the Mac. It all looks great – but we’ll have to wait to actually see what’s in store for all iPhone users.
