Apple is now betting big in India, recently the Government of India also granted permission to set up Apple stores that come under single brand stores. As per the new norms, Apple has three years grace period to meet the local sourcing requirements, where the company has to buy at least 30% of their manufacturing materials from India. In Q2 2016, the company had seen 32% drop in sales in China when compared to a year ago quarter.
In India, the iPhones are a bit costlier when compared to the western markets, and there are no carrier discounts. While last year, Apple announced the corporate EMI offer in India, where the latest iPhone SE costs Rs. 999 per month and users need to return after two years lease term. Under the same offer, the 16GB variants of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S cost Rs. 1,199 and Rs. 1,399 per month respectively. While it is also applicable for the iPad series; the company should order at least 20 units.
