Apple has released the iPhone 4S with its iCloud feature. Cloud computing has been around for a while but is the big thing on everyone’s tongue at the moment, and will surely be one of the biggest selling points for iPhone 4S contracts. So, what is the iCloud feature and what does it offer on the iPhone 4S?Well iCloud is an innovative feature by Apple that allows users to listen to their music on iTunes and get other information from Apple wherever they are, and one whichever iDevice they are using. The iTunes part of the iCloud service is one of the biggest and most important selling points.
Instead of users having to upload their music collection to a Cloud service and then listen to the music from these uploads Apple has decided on allowing users to access their data base to get access to the songs they have iTunes codes for. This means that users don’t have to spend long periods of time uploading their whole iTunes collection and allows quick and easy access to the iCloud feature that is part of IOS5.
This feature also works with documents and can be utilised in a similar way to the Dropbox feature we have seen downloaded as an application on numerous other devices. This allows users to upload a document of any sort to the cloud and then allows them to access it at anytime they wish for whatever they require. This allows you to have complete use of all the items on your hard drive or on any other computer drive on the go on your phone and is an extremely useful tool.
The fact that Apple have used the iCloud feature in such a seamless manner and allow it to be used without the need to upload makes the whole thing a lot more accessible to the average person and its simplicity will mean people will see it as a very attractive option over other cloud services out there.
Mark Hirst, the director of Best Mobile Contracts sees it as one of the most fundamental things that will drive the popularity of the new iPhone and said, “Is the iPhone a revolutionary device? No, it is evolutionary, bringing in important upgrades such as dual core processing, a greatly improved graphics chip and Siri, a new voice recognition that learns with you. I look forward to seeing how the iPhone 4S works with iCloud, Apples cloud computing offering as well.
With the ability to access all of your content from the cloud it may no longer matter how much storage a phone comes with. Despite this, the iPhone 4S now comes with more storage space available than any other phone, with a 64GB version available. This is on top of the iCloud support which provides even more potential storage space than microSD cards could ever hope to offer.
This high praise and the recognition in the industry for Apple’s innovation should see the iPhone 4S and the iCloud service come to the fore of the mobile community. The iPhone 4S is to go on sale this Friday.
