Images allegedly showing Apple's next iPhone have leaked online
There has been no shortage of rumors surrounding the next iPhone, with stories and gossip hitting the news every day, but it seems we finally have something a little more tangible to go with: some photos reportedly showing the iPhone 5, albeit, in something of a state of undress.
The photos, uncovered by 9to5Mac, show the new device sporting an aluminum unibody design with an interesting matte effect on the rear, which may or may not be performance-related and, many of the gossip mongers will be relieved to hear, a larger display. This would appear to corroborate the slew of rumors surrounding the device’s upgraded 4-inch screen.
The images also show the new micro connector that Apple is introducing to replace its older, proprietary model and the relocation of the 3.5mm headphone port to the bottom corner of the device, a move that suggests some interesting new photographic technology may be taking up extra space at the top.
The authenticity of the snapshots isn't confirmed, but the ‘supply chain sources’ that provided them are known to be fairly trustworthy. Those sources also let slip to the folks at 9to5Mac that the device would be shipping in other colors, not just black and white!
While we’re not 100 percent sure that these images represent an accurate portrayal of the next iPhone, we’re certainly excited by what they appear to suggest, and we may not have long to wait until we get to see the device up close. Many sources have been buzzzing that Apple’s WWDC, which takes place next month in San Francisco, could be used to launch the next-gen device along with the next iteration of the company's mobile operating system, iOS.
