So you have an iPad air and you want a sleeve case. How about one that doubles as a tablet stand? Check out this sleeve with a trick up it’s sleeve from Inateck.
The Inateck TPB-IA comes in a mustard-colored plastic envelope.
The sleeve appears to be made of some kind of felt-like material. It doesn’t feel quite as dense as wool, but pretty close.
This tab with the logo has special powers… Keep reading!
The inside is the same as the outside: Soft, cushy felt.
Designed for the iPad Air, the sleeve measures roughly 10″ by 7-1/4″.
Feeding time! My iPad Air 2 (2014) fits inside with no problem.
Remember that flap/tab? It’s got a magnetic snap. In this configuration, it helps keep your iPad inside the sleeve.
And now, the party trick: Flip the leather tab around, and it makes a little tablet stand.
It’s a little easier to visualize when viewed from behind. The iPad is quite stable like this. The base is still triangular, so I probably wouldn’t try to rest it on my lap.
This is a closeup of the leather tab. This keeps the iPad from slipping of. Surprisingly, the magnet on the strap has just enough grip to keep things in place.
And yes, if you prefer portrait mode over landscape, it works too.
I normally use the Apple SmartCover (the one that only covers the glass) and it still fits in the sleeve, but it’s a little more sung. Of course, having the SmartCover kind of makes the Inateck sleeve redundant, since it can be used to prop up the iPad, too. I will say the Inateck feels more stable as a stand vs. the SmartCover in the tall (not type) mode.
The Inateck TPB-IA is a minimal, stylish sleeve case that I don’t mind carrying around for those times I need something to prop it up on. At less than $20, it’s a good buy, too.
