Intex is an India-based smartphone manufacturer which, like many other India OEMs, focuses on low and mid-range handsets. Such affordable devices are selling like crazy in India, so it makes sense to make them, of course. The company keeps on releasing devices, the last notable release was the Cloud M6 handset which is priced under $100. The company is back with yet another release, and we’re once again looking at an extremely affordable entry level device which is slightly more expensive than the Cloud M6.
The device in question is Intex Aqua Star II HD which features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of in-built storage (expandable via microSD card up to 32GB). This handset is powered by Spreadtrum’s SC7731 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz which certainly helps to keep the price so low. The 8-megapixel camera is available on the back of the Aqua Star II HD and flanked by an LED flash. The 5-megapixel snapper is located on the front side of this device and a 2,000mAh battery is also a part of this package. This smartphone will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat with some additions by Intex. Dual SIM capability is also here, and this handset offer 3G HSPA+ connectivity speeds, no 4G LTE included unfortunately. 142 x 71.5 x 8.95mm are the dimension of Intex’s latest offering, and the phone weighs 125 grams.
“Through this new launch we aim to define our purpose of unleashing an economically attractive and technologically luring smartphone in the market. Our latest offering in the Aqua Star II HD– is available at an amazing price point. We are delighted to offer such an outstanding product and hope to continue this in the coming future,” said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Mobile Business Head of Intex Technologies. The Intex Aqua Star II HD will be available in White, Grey, Silver and Champagne color options and is priced at Rs. 6,590 ($104). This handset will be available across India very soon, though the company did not specify when exactly will you be able to purchase it. We’re guessing it will be available in the next couple of days, stay tuned.
