Recently, pod2g had been reported to be working on a new iOS 5.1.1untethered jailbreak which would work for iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad , iPad 2 and iPad 3. The only snag was that iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G won’t support the jailbreak iOS 5.1.1. That’s because the kernel vulnerability for getting the jailbreak to work on other devices wasn’t working on these two devices.
It was disappointing for the iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G users awaiting the jailbreak. But not anymore, thanks to an iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak update stating that now the jailbreak will be supporting iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS as well.
It took some time to bring out the jailbreak as according to pod2g there were 16 different devices required to be tested which was taking a lot of time. The developer hasn’t confirmed how he could make the jailbreak possible but he did say he would provide more updates very soon.
Here’s a list of the devices already tested, yet to be tested and those that won’t work at all:
Devices that have been tested and guaranteed to work:
iPad 2 Wifi
iPad 3 Wifi
iPad 3 CDMA
Devices that have yet to be tested, but should work:
iPad 2 GSM
iPad 2 CDMA
iPad 2 Wifi, R2
iPad 3 Global
Apple TV 2
Devices that won’t work:
Apple TV 3
With the jailbreak now supporting iPod 3G and iPhone 3GS, that’s one huge success for pod2g as he sets out to work on it further.
