Digitimes reports that something is cooking in the fruit company’s backyard – and in all probability that should signify that iPad 3 release date is somewhere around the corner.
Most of the rumors that we often hear are usually from the manufacturing departments and companies that produce the elements for Apple. That was the case with iPhone 4 (which many of us termed 4G) and other devices. The report confirms something important. Apple has reduced the amount of orders for the 9.7-inch iPad 2 display screens. Apple gets the screens manufactured by Samsung, CMI and LG usually. This time, for the fourth quarter of 2011, the orders have been reduced for both CMI and LG.
While Samsung retains the same order of 2 million screens, CMI has seen a reduction of about 350,000 units and LG has seen a reduction of 500,000 units totaling a reduction of 850,000 unit. Not a big difference compared to the 11.2 million sales of iPads in the third quarter of 2011 – but still some sign that speaks something.
That something, we hope, is that Apple has finally started the iPad 3 journey and will pretty soon be out with something that’s even better than iPad 2 (although we can hardly imagine what could be better than that!).
What the reduction in the manufacturing units could mean is that the iPad 3 has a different display from that of the previous versions. That seems quite obvious.
We’ll keep you informed of all the latest developments in this regard as and when we stumble upon something fishy – especially when it comes to iPad 3 and iPad 3 release date.
