If you’re looking forward to tomorrow to pick up a brand new iPad Air, then we have some good news for you. It seems that Apple will have plentiful supply of the fifth generation iPad, allowing you to effortlessly pick up the thinner, lighter, and faster device. There are a few different indicators that Apple should meet initial demand for the iPad Air. First off, MacRumors is reporting that Apple will allow the Personal Pickup option for online orders beginning this evening (technically Friday morning) at 12:01AM Pacific. That means you can order an iPad Air online after midnight, and pick it at your local Apple retail store later the same day. Apple has never offered launch day personal pick-up before, but that shows how many devices they will have in stock.
Apple didn’t allow pre-orders for the iPad Air, so there’s no option to have the device shipped to your door on launch day, but personal pick-up is the next best thing. If you pick that option, you will already have paid, so you should be able to show up to the store without waiting in line, or at least a short pick-up line that will move very quickly. In related news, 9to5Mac reports that major Apple retail locations across the U.S. will have over 500 units of the iPad Air in stock for launch day. Apple has also begun online orders in the Asia-Pacific region, and all configurations are still available to ship within 24 hours. Apple retail stores will open at 8AM local time, and the iPad Air will also be available at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and the carriers.
Getting the retina iPad mini may be tough this year, but getting the iPad Air should be extremely easy, which is good news for those looking for the 9.7” device. The iPad Air comes with the 64-bit A7 chip, weighs in at 1 pound, is just 7.5mm thick, and the side bezels have been reduced by 8mm each resulting in a 28% lighter, and 20% thinner device. Personally, I’m looking to order online at 12:01AM pacific tonight, go to bed, and head down to the Apple Store around 9am tomorrow to just walk up, and pick up the iPad Air I ordered the night before.
