3D modeling isn’t just for the pros anymore. Autodesk 123D Sculpt makes the process a little easier for the rest of us, implementing simple touch controls to make quality 3D models that you can share online.
The one unfortunate part about Autodesk 123D Sculpt is that you can’t create a sculpture from scratch. Instead, you can choose between many different shapes in the app’s library, then make those base models your own using the touch-based tools in the app. You can pinch, pull, smooth, push, stretch, flatten, and bulge parts of the sculpture to make your own unique creation.
Once the sculpting is done, you can add color to your creation and rub in a variety of stock images loaded onto the app.
Recently, the app’s developers also added the ability to export the finished product as a .obj file, as well.
Autodesk 123D Sculpt is available now for the iPad for free, though the developers say the app is only free for a limited time.
