Some squirrels run around and search for nuts. This one searches for videos, and does a pretty good job of it.
Squrl is an app for the iPad that allows you to search for videos across services – one search finds videos on Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and Vimeo, among others. Of course, you’ll need to have subscriptions to all of those services separately, but if you do, Squrl could be a very nice search app for you.
A recent update has introduced live video feeds, too. Bloomberg TV, the Home Shopping Network, and NASA TV are all among the new live channels that you can view through Squrl. There will also be a Live channel, featuring curated content from a variety of live streams. That’s in addition to other, non-live channels, like comedy or technology, that can be viewed on Squrl. There’s even the What’s Hot channel, which lets you in on the most-viewed viral videos making the rounds on the Web. By checking out and subscribing to those channels, Squrl can also make recommendations based on your viewing history and preferences.
Squrl is available now for free on the iTunes App Store.
