The iPad Pro was announced during the September Hey Siri event, and it’s the last item yet to launch. Today, Apple announced that the iPad Pro will be available to order online this Wednesday November 11th. Apple’s 12.9″ iOS device will arrive on doorsteps, and will be in stores starting on Friday. You can pick up the iPad Pro on Friday at Apple Stores, Apple Authorized Resellers, and select carriers in the U.S. and in over 40 countries.
The iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32GB WiFi model, with a 128GB WiFi only option at $949, and an added cellular choice for $1,079. The device comes in either silver, space gray, or gold. The iPad Pro also comes with two option accessories with the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil will retail for $99, and the Smart Keyboard will be $169 with both launching with the iPad Pro.
The iPad Pro is literally Apple’s biggest iPad yet coming in at 12.9”, which is 78% more screen real estate than the 9.7” iPad Air 2. The 12.9” screen features a 2732 x 2048 resolution that delivers the same 264ppi of every retina display enabled iPad. The device itself is 6.9mm thick, and weighs in at 1.57lbs, compared to the iPad Air 2, which is 6.1mm thick and weighs 0.98lbs. On the inside of the iPad Pro, there’s the new A9X chip that provides 1.8x the processing power of the iPad Air 2, and double the graphics power. There’s also set to be the same 10 hour bettery life.
As Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller describes,
The early response to iPad Pro from app developers and our customers has been incredible, and we’re excited to get iPad Pro into the hands of customers around the world this week. iPad Pro is the most powerful iPad we’ve ever made, giving users the ability to be even more creative and more productive with the epic 12.9-inch Retina display, powerful 64-bit A9X chip and groundbreaking Apple Pencil and new Smart Keyboard. We can’t wait to see what they do with iPad Pro.”
