Applle has confirmed that the off-contract pricing for the 8GB 3GS will be set at $375 while the 8GB iPhone 4 will set you back $549. Both unlocked versions will be available in stores starting on October 14th, Slashgear reports.
Now, Apple hasn't offically come out and stated what the price of an unlocked iPhone 4S will be, but the iPhone 4S website does confirm its existence in the tech specs:
For those who are not qualified customers, are not eligible for an early upgrade, are purchasing an unlocked iPhone (for supported GSM wireless service provider networks only), or wish to buy an iPhone as a gift, see your carrier, an Apple Retail Store Specialist, the Apple Online Store, or an Apple Authorized Reseller for pricing.
That having been said, it's easy to guess that the pricing for the unlocked iPhone 4S will follow the same pattern as the iPhone 4:
iPhone 4S 16 GB : $649
iPhone 4S 32 GB : $749
iPhone 4S 64 GB: $849
As Unwired View notes, Apple Canada has confiormed that this pricing structure is in play.
Obviously, that's a pretty hefty price to pay for GSM carrier freedom - but is it worth it?
