Apple’s event is finally over and the company has announced a new iPhone model, the iPhone 4S. It has also set a release date for the iOS 5 operating system.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide product marketing Phil Schiller along with the new Apple CEO Tim Cook has introduced the new iPhone 4s which will be available from October 14. The iPhone 4S also introduced “Siri”, a new voice control system. The new operating system, iOS 5 was also a much talked about subject. It was announced to be launched on October 12. along with the announcement about the iTunes Match launch in the US at the end of the month.
One of the most significant points of this evening’s announcement was Apple’s decision to keep selling the 3GS (free on contract) and iPhone 4 (from $99 on contract). Apple will be switching to 3 models in its portfolio while keeping both the 3GS and 4 at cheaper prices.
iPhone 4S prices and release dates have been declared. A 16, 32 and 64GB model would be released in seven countries including Britain on October 14. The pre-orders would begin to be taken from Friday.

64GB for $399, with a two-year contract. And the iPhone 4 will drop to $99.
