The public release of an iPhone 4S Untethered Jailbreak and iPad 2 is reported to be in the near future. This has been confirmed by the video on Pod2g’s blog showing jailbroken iPhone 4S running Cydia on iOS 5.0.1, fully tethered. Pod2g, the brain behind this has recently posted on his blog:
My friend @DHowett made a video of an untethered 4S iPhone 4,1 running iOS 5.0.1 some days ago.
@DHowett is a famous iOS developer and a member of the Chronic Dev Team. Only a few to wait now.Even the legendary member of the so called “Dream Team”, PlanetBeing, commented on the progress on A5 jailbreak (for iPhone 4S and iPad 2), and thereby confirmed the unsigned code running successfully on his iPhone 4S.
@planetbeing: Finally got unsigned code running on my 4S with the stuff that will go into the new jailbreak!
Nothing official has yet been released from the Dev-Team for the much awaited jailbreak. However, according to Pod2g’s post we are very soon going to get hold of the jailbreak for both iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
So, you’d better upgrade your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to final version of iOS 5.0.1 now before iOS 5.1 with an improved Corona untethered jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 is released to public. If you don’t do it now you won’t be able to downgrade your device back to iOS 5.0.1 and therefore will have to wait till the next one is released – which might take quite some time. All those who have A4 devices, can follow the complete step by step guide to get an Untethered Jailbreak iPhone 4S, 3GS, iPad 1, and iPod touch 3G/4G using Redsn0w.
