After a lot of guesswork and imitations, the truth is finally out. Let’s check out on how the newest addition to the Apple clan, matches up against last year’s model, that is the iPhone 4S vs. iPhone 4. All of a sudden the iPhone users seem to be aching to own the number one Apple handset, the iPhone 4S.
Here is the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 Comparison:
The iPhone 4S has the very same case as the much loved iPhone 4.The form factor is still good, still pretty thin at 9.3mm and light enough at 137g. However, the iPhone 4S will definitely be a good looking handset.
Most iPhone users were demanding for an improvement in screen size but the iPhone 4S screen is identical to the iPhone 4. It has an outstanding pixel density but unfortunately not the real estate to back it up.
As predicted Apple has given the iPhone 4S a processor set up which is the big selling point over the older model. The iPhone 4S has been equipped with the Apple A5 chip from the iPad 2.
The Apple A4 consists of a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 CPU with a single Hummingbird core and PowerVR SGX 535 graphics processor GPU. There’s also 512MB of RAM to back it up. The Apple A5 chip has a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1GHz. On the graphics front, it’s an upgrade to a dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU and there’s, again, 512MB of RAM in support.
Apple replaced the slightly dated 5-megapixel camera with a good 8-megapixel sensor along with the ability to shoot a more headline and impressive 1080p.
A change in image sensor technology was also carried out, allowing 73 per cent more light gathered than on the iPhone 4 camera.
One of the noticeable gaps in connectivity department of the iPhone 4 has been filled by the addition of a 4G radio inside the iPhone 4S.
Besides that there’s also the AirPlay mirroring with the iPhone 4S. While the iPhone 4 and AirPlay app allow you to stream videos and music from your phone to your HDTV and speakers via Apple TV, it doesn’t allow showing everything on your handset such as web pages, games, messages, etc. With the iPhone 4S this is possible.
Along with the launch of the iPhone 4S, the arrival of iOS 5 was also expected. Both phones will be able to run this latest iOS 5 except that one will have it installed out of the box, whilst the other you may or may not have to update yourself.
The addition of Siri – a voice-controlled personal organizer in the iPhone 4S is the major difference. It can translate your more human, sentence-based commands into actions. For example, it can set alarms, read and reply to your messages, find restaurants and the like.
