The question that has been raised since the release of iPhone 4S this summer instead of the much awaited iPhone 5 is that, “Why did Apple choose the 4S and not the 5?” Though the 4S came with the amazing personal assistant, Siri, it couldn’t cover up for the disappointment caused by the further delay in the iPhone 5 release date. There are rumours confirming the iPhone 5 launch date being delayed due to the lack of the stability that Apple’s iDevices are known to come with. It has been reported that the Taiwanese manufacturing company which had made the part for the iPhone 5 failed to have it pass the standard stability tests. While Samsung, the company that Apple usually assigns its parts to, has always produced the best. Anyways, Apple had to release a new product, be it the iPhone 5 or the iPhone 4S.
Samsung has reported to having agreed to the rumors as one of its officials gave the following statement: “As far as we understand, Apple assigned the production of the two key components for its iPhone 5 and iPad 3 to a Taiwanese company, but these showed problems such as overheating during final tests.”
Following this it is understood that the delay in the release of the iPad 3 is also for the same reason. While it was rumored to be releasing in March of next year, it could again be pushed back to 3 months. Since the beginning of this year, Apple has been in the process of assigning its parts to Taiwanese companies instead of Samsung. Besides that Apple has also been known to be filing lawsuit after lawsuit against Samsung in order to succeed in the tablet as well as the smartphone market.
It isn’t a wise move on Apple’s part to change its manufacturers now that its iPhone and iPad that are using the Samsung chips have shown great performance and stability. In fact, they should sort out their differences and start making products that will benefit them both. It seems senseless to gamble on the quality of the product based on few logical reasons.
