It is widely believed that the next generation iPhone will come with a larger display. Apple currently uses a 4 inch display for the iPhone, which was first introduced with the iPhone 5. All iPhones before that had a 3.5 inch display. The next smartphone’s display is believed to go as high as 5 inches, and Japanese magazine Mac Fan claims that Apple might optimize it for one hand use. Most smartphones that have displays of this size require one dedicated hand to hold them, meaning that its hard for the user to do much with just one hand.
The magazine claims that Apple might make the side bezels on iPhone 6 “as thin as possible,” to overcome the need for two hands. It is said to borrow design cues from the iPad mini and the iPad Air. The next generation iPhone, widely known as the iPhone 6, is also expected to come with major design changes. Apple has kept the design of its smartphone largely the same for the past couple of years, this is expected to change with the next generation model. Thin bezels would mean that the possibility of accidental taps will increase, but Apple already uses technology in the iPad mini that lets users rest their hands without registering them as gestures or taps. So can it be said for sure that the next iPhone has a 6 inch display? Absolutely not. There have been reports that the company is testing prototypes with various display sizes, but there’s no concrete proof that 5 inches is going to be the magic number.
