Will Apple's upcoming iPhone be cheaper than Samsung's?
Apple's iPhone 6 could be the company's most affordable version yet. Rumor has it that the Cupertino, Calif. smartphone maker will price its upcoming handset to rival the likes of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S4. This story notes that it could be as much as $300 cheaper than the S4.
Why would Apple slash the price of its most coveted mobile device? The company is purportedly unhappy with losing its edge to Samsung, which offers a number of budget-friendly Android-based handsets. If Apple did choose to sell the iPhone 6 at a lower price, it woudl likely nix the aluminum casing in favor of a cheaper plastic material. Specs and features would supposedly remain the same.
Given the the incessant stream of hot hair that always trickles through before Apple launches a new product, this could very well be a gigantic load of crap. But let's just pretend for a minute that it's not. Can you even imagine the stunned faces of iPhone elitists everywhere? How will they cope? Everyone suddenly being able to afford the latest and greatest iPhone -- it might just be enough to shatter the snootiest of dreams. Perhaps this new wildly expensive 128GB iPad 4 will help cut the pain.
We've also heard that Apple will launch an iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 later this year. No word on possible dates yet, but we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, let us know what you think. Do you think we'll see a lower price tag on the iPhone 6?
