The iPhone 6s release is kicking off a few weeks ahead of Apple’s launch date thanks to a carrier that’s now accepting reservations for Apple’s new 2015 iPhone.
As we make our way into the summer, we’re starting to hear more and more about Apple’s plans for the fall. Rumors indicate that the company has a packed product pipeline that includes a brand new Apple TV, a new iPad mini 4, and at least two brand new iPhone models.
For several weeks, iPhone 6s rumors have teased the arrival of a brand new iPhone, one that will replace the iPhone 6 as the company’s flagship. And while the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are still behind the curtain, we know that the iPhone 6s release is getting closer.
Apple’s iPhone 6s launch date will reportedly take place on September 9th. The company hasn’t confirmed but evidently one carrier feels comfortable enough to start taking pre-orders for the new iPhone weeks ahead of Apple’s inevitable iPhone 6s announcement.
Apfelpage.de has spotted early iPhone 6s pre-orders at German carrier Deutsche Telekom. As MacRumorspoints out, this is not the first time that the carrier has started taking iPhone 6s reservations well ahead of an iPhone launch. The company did the same before the arrival of the iPhone 4s back in 2011.
The carrier’s sign up page allows customers to put in their information to gain preferred access to upcoming smartphones. The page doesn’t mention the rumored iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus by name but this new reservation service does allow users to put in a valid email and phone number to reserve a place in line ahead of the phone’s release.
Once the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are announced, those who signed up early will be able to redeem a ticket through SMS or email and get preferred delivery.
Deutsche Telekom is the first carrier to start taking early reservations for the rumored iPhones though they almost certainly won’t be the last. Apple is reportedly gearing up for a massive iPhone launch this fall, one that will coincide with the release of its iOS 9 operating system.
Apple still isn’t talking about the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus but we’ve seen rumors outline everything from the iPhone 6s display size to the iPhone 6s processor to the iPhone 6s’ supposed camera sensors. iPhone 6s specs and design features aren’t confirmed but like the iPhone 6s release, they’re firming up.
iPhone 6s (Rumored)
4.7-inch Retina Display (iPhone 6s)
5.5-inch Retina Display (iPhone 6s Plus)
Force Touch displays
A9 processor with Qualcomm chip (faster LTE, improved battery)
12MP rear camera/5MP FaceTime camera
16/32GB / 64GB / 128GB storage
Apple is widely expected to have two iPhone 6s models up its sleeve for the fall though some believe that the company could surprise with an iPhone 5c replacement called iPhone 6c. iPhone 6c rumors have been inconclusive thus far but they point to a plastic, upgraded version of the phone that Apple released alongside the iPhone 5s back in 2013.
