It’s Super Mario Bros. Meets Microsoft Paint, and the result is beautiful if you have a few minutes (or hours) to kill. The Grix uses a drag-and-drop interface with several different colors of pixelated tiles that you can arrange into your own late-80s’ era masterpiece. Each Grix contains 128 tiles that can be individually edited and arranged, and the app features 12 color palettes. If you’re hard up for inspiration, developers eBoy have provided five samples to get your imagination going.
Unfortunately, something tells me your visionary 8-bit artwork won’t sell for thousands at auction. You’ll have to take sharing on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr as a consolation prize.
The Grix is available now on the iTunes App Store for $4.99.
