Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the world of telemarketing to collide with the world of mobile phones. Fortunately, we’ve gotten to the point where we have enough networking to crowdsource a solution.
That solution is CallScreen, an app that screens those unwanted calls based on a blocked number list built from suggestions from the community. You’re completely free to edit that list on your own, so you can add or remove numbers at will. The blocked list also breaks down the numbers into separate categories, including telemarketers, debt collectors, fax machines, political groups, and service providers.
The app doesn’t actually block the calls (no app is capable of that), but it will give you an alert if you’re called by a blacklisted number, and you can set the app to disable your ringer if you receive a call from a flagged number.
CallScreen is available now for free from the iTunes App Store.
