Apple’s iPhone line-up consists of three models, the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the current flagship smartphone, iPhone 5. According to smartphone sales and activation figures obtained from the Q1, 2013 financial results, the iPhone accounts for 57% of all smartphone sales in this particular quarter. Recently many analysts have voiced off their opinions that iPhone sales have been disappointing and that Apple needs to release its next generation iPhone if it wants to maintain the lead. Despite the negative sentiment, it is pretty clear that the iPhone enjoys a substantial home ground advantage. However with smartphones such as Galaxy S4 and HTC One being released this quarter, while Apple still offers the iPhone 5, we might see different results in the next quarter. Apple’s next generation iPhone has reportedly been delayed due to production issues.
