Apple hasn’t announced any early sales numbers for the iPhone SE, but a new report claims the 4-inch smartphone could be a big hit in China. According to CNBC, over 3.4 million units of the handset have already been pre-ordered by Chinese shoppers.
The report adds that gold and rose gold are the most popular color options, according to local retailers. The iPhone SE is also expected to be a big hit in other emerging markets, including Brazil, Russia and India. It could also do pretty well in the U.S., where plenty of people are still holding onto an iPhone 5s and prefer the smaller 4-inch design.
The iPhone SE offers solid hardware similar to what’s found in the flagship iPhone 6s. That includes an A9 processor, a 12-megapixel iSight camera, Touch ID and NFC for using Apple Pay. It comes in gold, rose gold, silver and space gray, and starts at $399 for the 16GB storage model.
Overall we were pretty impressed with the iPhone SE after spending a little time with the device last week at Apple’s unveiling. However, you’ll have to wait for our review to see our full thoughts on the new handset.
