If you enjoy blasting away an over the top onslaught of enemies, then the new iOS game JoyJoy may be just what you’re looking for. It comes from Radiangames, the makers of some top notch games including Inferno+, Ballistic SE, Fireball SE, BombCats, Slydris, Crush, and SideSwype. JoyJoy is their latest, and offers up intense action arcade combat with a top down perspective, and dual stick controls. You’re given wave after wave of enemies, and you need to simply blast through everything. JoyJoy is a lot like Ballistic, but with a bright, and friendly theme including light color shades, and an upbeat soundtrack. The game is also made to be highly accessible with five different difficulty levels, and an auto-fire ability that is default, if you don’t place your second thumb on the screen for the dual stick controls.
There are 24 main waves to make it through with each one increasing the intensity, and difficulty of the enemy wave patterns. One valuable feature is the inclusion of checkpoints, so you can choose to restart at wave one each time, or pick up after each boss wave at every five levels. In addition to the waves, there are also six different challenge modes with a time based survival set-up, that you unlock as you complete the waves. The main takeaway is that there are multiple combinations of difficulties, and mode starting points to give you a whole lot to play and build upon the enjoyable arcade action. This isn’t a thought provoking game, but it still can be tons of fun to just react to blast everything that you see.
When you’re playing JoyJoy, your screen is constantly filled with action in that true Radiangames style. They offer a great particle effects engine with bullets, explosions, and enemies constantly firing off. The eye candy of JoyJoy has an all new style with the brighter overall theme, and it’s simply fresh fun. There are also six different weapon types to unlock, and upgrade as you go with quick switching too. You can activate ultra mode as well, with a firefighter hose style weapon blast that you can replenish by collecting stars that enemies drop.
JoyJoy ($1.99, Universal) offers highly entertaining arcade action that is a should buy for tons of fun.
