The domestic handset maker, Karbonn is known for launching affordable smartphones targeting the budget-centric users. Today, the company has launched two new entry-level smartphones called as Karbonn Quattro L52 and Titanium Mach Six in India. The main selling point is the smartphones come bundled with free VR headsets for Virtually Realistic viewing experience. The VR headset also comes with a headband that helps in easy adjustment for comfortable viewing. The devices also come pre-loaded with VR games and video content, and the users can also make their own VR videos using the inbuilt VR app. The Karbonn Quattro L52 & Titanium Mach Six are priced at Rs. 8,790 and Rs. 7,490 respectively.
Commenting on the launch, Shashin Devsare, Executive Director, Karbonn Mobiles, said, “the Virtual reality is the next big growth area in consumer technology. As per a recent report, the global Virtual Reality market is expected to touch an estimated $120bn by 2020. While the technology offers tremendous growth potential in India with the burgeoning Smartphone market, affordability would be key to encourage mass adoption.” He further added, “Karbonn’s VR glasses available with Karbonn Quattro L52 and Mach Six are an effort to address this challenge by bringing VR technology to consumers across the economic spectrum at disruptive price points in the under 10K bracket. Karbonn Quattro L52
The Karbonn Quattro L52 flaunts a 5-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display and offers a pixel density of 294ppi. Under the hood, it comes powered by unspecified 1.3GHz quad-core processor clubbed with 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory upto 32GB. It supports dual sim dual standby and comes with standard connectivity options like 4G-LTE/3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0 port.
On the photographic section, the smartphone features an 8MP primary camera with autofocus, LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling and perfect selfie images. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based company’s customized UI out of the box, and there is no information about the Android Marshmallow update. The handset powers a 2250mAh battery that the company claims can easily last for an entire day on mixed usage. The dimensions of the device measure 145 x 72 x 9.9 mm weighs around 143 grams and is available in White with Champagne color option.
Karbonn Titanium Mach Six
The Karbonn Titanium Mach Six comes with a phablet-sized 6-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD full lamination display that offers 244ppi as pixel density. Under the hood, it comes equipped with the same quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and can be further expanded to 32GB via microSD card slot. The handset powers a 3300mAh battery that can easily take you through the day on a single charge.
It supports dual sim dual standby and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. The basic connectivity options on the device include 2G/3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 2.0 port. The only downside of the smartphone is it lacks the 4G-LTE support that is offered by most of the smartphones these days. The smartphone sports an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 3.2MP front shooter for video chats and selfie images.
