Photo books are great keepsakes, and it can transform any event into a truly memorable experience. Creating photo albums requiring printing physical copies, and making photo albums on the computer takes you away from the photo album experience. KeepShot is a brand new iPad app that lets you create photo books with the touch interface of the iPad. Adding photos is as easy as dragging, and dropping, and precision is available through touch as well. Making photo books is usually a hassle, but KeepShot makes it relatively easy so that the challenge is simply selecting which photos to include, and where they should go.
Your screen is transformed with the digital photo book front, and center, with all of your photos in the left hand tray. KeepShot can access your camera roll, Facebook, Flickr, or Instagram photos, and most importantly your PhotoStream. Once you have your photos, you can then go to work on picking where they go with an ever changing layout. You can change the page layouts at will whether you’re selecting from pre-made designs or dragging in your own photo boxes on to the page. Once you add the photos, you’re given a new assortment of options that are always easy to access.
You can resize any photo by dragging the edge of the highlighted pink section around your photo. The app also lets you swap photo places through drag, and drop, and move photo boxes by touch, and drag. One of the best aspects is that the app uses auto grid lines to let you align your photos based on the edges or centering to make sure the photos are professionally organized on the page. There are so many individual photo options including the ability to add frames, apply 21 different photo effects, and edit photos. If that wasn’t enough, you can also enhance the pages of the photo book with 400 frames, 100 backgrounds, 150 stickers, and 40 fonts for text boxes. The best feature is the crop tool allowing you to pinch to zoom to highlight a specific part of a photo for any particular box.
KeepShot (Free, iPad) is so feature rich, and everything is made accessible through a brilliantly designed touch interface to make it actually enjoyable to craft a photo book. You get to reminisce while creating the book, and then have the keepsake when you’re done.
